Grants & Program services

The Edina Community Foundation Executive Committee awards grants from its Designated Funds on an as-needed basis, following the submission of a short-form Grant Application either in hard copy or electronic form. [Forms are available at the bottom of this page]. We have established Designated Funds for the following programs and organizations:

Foundation grants generally fall within one of four main focus areas:
Beatifying Edina
Bringing People Together
Enhancing Our Security
Helping Our Neighbors

Our grants since July 1, 2004, have included the following:

• To CommonBond Communities, for senior housing computer equipment.
• To the Southdale YMCA, for for Y-Lead Program and  Camp Kici Yapi youth scholarships.
• To the Edina Park and Recreation Department Adaptive Recreation Program, for a theater production.
• To the Edina Chorale, for concert music.
• To the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band, for its Torchlight Concert.
• To VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People), for computer equipment.

Using the same Grant Application mentioned above, plus supporting documentation as appropriate, eligible nonprofit organizations may apply for grants from the Foundation’s General Fund to support programs that will further the Foundation’s mission of Strengthening Our Community. The Foundation’s Grants Committee considers such applications three times a year, with application deadlines of May 15, September 15, and January 15. Recommendations from the Committee will be acted upon by the Board of Directors within six weeks of each of those dates.
